PRE-REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.

Please join us at 9:30AM November 2nd at Refuge Coffee Co. for day-of registration!

Please join us as we walk 4.8 miles from Clarkston — where most of our students begin their new life in Georgia – to Global Village Project’s home in downtown Decatur. The Welcome Walk highlights the connection between these two cities and their vast potential to support Atlanta’s refugee community. When we can unite in educating the young women who, with their families, have survived political persecution, conflict and often war-torn journeys to the U.S., we know we are showcasing the best that our community has to offer.

Please arrive by 9:30AM at Refuge Coffee Co. for check-in & registration!
The walk will start at 10:00 AM and end at GVP where we will hold our Finish Line Celebration, complete with all the necessary festivities!

PARKING INFORMATION FOR EVENT DAY

Parking is available in the lot at Clarkston International Bible Church (1000 Rowland St, Clarkston, GA 30021). Parking is not available at Refuge Coffee Co, as they will be open for normal operating hours during the walk. See map below for parking options nearby:

AFTER THE WALK

After the walk ends at GVP, we are planning a festive Finish Line Celebration, with snacks, face painting, music, school tours, and a food truck on site, so we hope as many participants as possible are able to stick around and enjoy the fun! If you leave your vehicle in Clarkston, there are a few options for returning, depending on your time constraints:

  • Option 1: You may decide - as you seem to have a group this might be a good option - to leave your cars parked at Decatur Presbyterian Church or elsewhere downtown Decatur, and carpool to the Start Line at Refuge Coffee. Then, you can carpool the return route to Clarkston.
  • Option 2: Some have decided to use the mobile phone applications Uber or Lyft in the past to return to Clarkston!
  • Option 3: The GVP buses will be shuttling to Clarkston on a continuous basis after the walk ends until all participants have made the return trip, but please note that seats are first come first served.
